EMN Croatia organized workshops for the implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum

The National Contact Point of the European Migration Network for the Republic of Croatia (HR EMN NCP) organized two workshops on August 29 and 30 in Zagreb with the aim of operationalizing and implementing the new Pact on Migration and Asylum and creating a national implementation plan.

The workshops were held in the Dubrovnik Hotel and were attended by representatives of ministries and other state and public administration bodies that participate in the operationalization and implementation of the Pact.

The Pact on Migration and Asylum is a package of 10 legislative acts reforming European migration and asylum policy. In order to begin implementation, member states need to establish legal and operational capacities for the application of new laws, and the deadline for the start of implementation is set for 2026. The basis for the implementation of the Pact is the EU's Joint Implementation Plan, which serves to prepare the national implementation plans of the member states, which should be completed by December 12, 2024.

By solving practical problems and exchanging experiences at these workshops, the representatives of the ministry and other bodies of state and public administration became familiar with various aspects of the implementation of the Pact, which are under the responsibility of various departments, with the aim of making the national implementation plan as high-quality as possible, as well as the actual operationalization and implementation of the Pact.
