The European Union will begin to systematically monitor the extent to which countries that enjoy a visa-free regime comply with its visa policy, and those that do not cooperate will not be able to expect to enter without visas, Croatian minister of the Interior Davor Božinović said on Thursday.
 
“We require a systematic answer and a way to monitor how nations that enjoy in a visa-free of charge regime with the European Union cooperate on the problem of harmonizing their visa policies with the visa policies of the European Union,” mentioned Božinović following the meeting of the ministers of interior affairs of the member states.

The meeting also discussed aid to Ukraine, police cooperation with that country, where after the end of the war there will be a lot of weapons, and help will be needed to prevent them from ending up in the hands of criminal groups. Croatia, for its part, can help Ukraine in the demining process and will organize a conference that will deal with that issue.

Božinović expressed his satisfaction with the upgrade of the Schengen Information System (SIS), which since two days ago has new functionalities that increase the level of interoperability with other bodies in the countries that use this system.

In addition to the MUP, customs administration, the ministry of finance, the ministry of transport and the air transport agency will now have access to SIS.

"So they will all be able to control everything that interests them within their responsibility when it comes to crossing borders. Everyone will be able to check all the information that is relevant to them in real time, which is very important for security, especially for the protection of vulnerable groups, above all children and minors," said Božinović.
