On 28 January 2022 a study forum on the integration of migrant women, organized by the EMN NCP Malta, was held

The study forum aimed to develop and explain Maltese national contributions to the EMN study on the integration of women in migration - policies and measures.

The forum was attended by representatives from the fields of health, employment, education and reception centers in Malta. The EMN ICF Service Provider presented the contributions received so far by Member States for the study. Also, the EMN NCP Germany and Ireland presented their national contributions.

Discrimination was stated to be the main challenge for the integration of women in migration. Women are discriminated against in two ways - because of their gender and because they are migrants.

Contributions and statistics have shown that the employment rate is higher for women with children than for men. So far, 15 member states have announced to have specific policies for the integration of migrants related to the labor market, health, education and language courses, while ten member states have given examples of measures aimed specifically at women in migration.

A detailed note from the forum can be found here.
