With this act, the Republic of Croatia continued to improve the position of international protection seekers, persons with approved asylum or subsidiary protection status, and persons under temporary protection.

The amendment to the Act, which stipulates that the guardian will take all necessary actions as soon as possible after submitting the request in order to locate family members and reunite the child with the family, strengthened the role of the special guardian in the care of unaccompanied minors.

Furthermore, the new changes made it possible for applicants for international protection to enter the labor market after a period of 3 months from the date of submission of the application and, on the condition that they have no financial resources, temporary use of a housing unit owned by the Republic of Croatia for a maximum of two years.

The legal framework has now also included a regulation that during the international protection procedure, the child is provided with access to recreational activities in accordance with his age (including play) and outdoor activities.
