"House of Hope" opened

Žarko Katić, State Secretary for Immigration, Citizenship and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, opened the "House of Hope" of the Baptist Church Zagreb - Malešnica

On 1 October, State Secretary for Immigration, Citizenship and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, Žarko Katić, opened the "House of Hope", a renovated and newly equipped building of the former police station in Gajnice, which the Ministry of the Interior leased to the Baptist Church Zgreb- Malešnica (BCZM) in 2018, for renovation and use for social purposes.

In the company of representatives of the project holder "House of Hope", the Association of Baptist Churches in the Republic of Croatia, founder of the Hand of Hope, representatives of the Ministry of Interior, local authorities, social partners, associates and donors, project initiator and leader Mihal Kreko from Baptist Church Zagreb - Malešnica, visited the newly renovated rooms on the ground floor and attic of the house, and explained the purpose and goal of this commendable social facility, which will serve as a place of meeting and cooperation, providing assistance and support to marginalized and vulnerable groups, children, youth and the third age generation. 


Contacts between the Ministry of the Interior and BCZM, which resulted in cooperation resulting in the opening of this house, began in early autumn 2017, but, as explained by State Secretary Katić, the Association Hands of Hope has already helped in the Reception Center for Asylum Seekers "Porin" and was among the first to whom asylum seekers could turn for help.
