On 25 November, 2020, the Croatian Parliament passed the new Aliens Act (Official Gazette 133/20).

The biggest novelty in the Act is the new model of employment of third-country nationals in which the Government of the Republic of Croatia will no longer set an annual quota for the employment of third-country nationals in the Republic of Croatia. Employers must contact the Croatian Employment Service to find work force, which will conduct a labor market test (finding labor in the domestic labor market). It also prescribes the possibility of regulating temporary residence for so-called digital nomads, foreigners who perform work digitally for foreign employers.

The Aliens Act enters into force on 1 January 2021.

The full Act can be found here.
