Two new EMN informs on return and reintegration counselling published

Counselling is a crucial service to ensure that migrants obtain correct information and support to return and reintegrate in their country of origin, as well as about their legal possibilities to remain in Europe. The European Migration Network (EMN) package of three Informs offers an overview of the policies and practices regarding counselling on the return and reintegration opportunities of migrants in the EU Member States and Norway. The informs were proposed by, and have been developed in collaboration with, the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

EMN identified best practices in return and reintegration counselling in three informs.

The first, already published (EMN Inform - Policies and Practices on Return counselling for Migrants in EU Member and Norway), focused on the policy and approaches to return counselling.

The second Inform (that can be found on the link: EMN inform - Policies and practices for the training and support of return counsellors in their role to provide migrants with timely, unbiased and reliable information on return) explored the policy and operational support available to return counsellors to assist them in their role to provide migrants with timely, unbiased and reliable information on return.

The third Inform (that can be found on the link: EMN inform - Policies and practices on outreach and information provision for the return of migrants in EU Member States and Norway) looked into outreach and information activities, which are distinct from but closely interlinked to return counselling.
